Milton Keynes Citizen Article

My Pet Portraits were featured in the Milton Keynes Citizen newspaper in August 2010. Here is the article:

Julie Hollinshead is a whizz at animal portraits, as our pictures cheerfully declare. and she has set up online business, Paintpaws, to ply her trade.
" I have always had a love of painting" Julie told GO!
"....and fur and feathers fascinate me!"
Julie has work on display at the wonderful Fenny Stratford gallery at the Tecton Centre too.
You think nothing of gathering the brood together for a fancy photo session that costs a fortune, but this is a terrific way of giving the pooches and puddy-tats in your family a spot on the wall too!
They really can prove the most superb momento, and dare we say it, Christmas isn't too far around the corner....
But what does Julie have, aside from a very reasonable pricing chart, that sets her apart from the pack?
" A lot of portrait artists are very traditional and formal" says Julie, who works from photos but goes the extra mile before putting pencil or brush to paper: " I like to bring alive the animal in question by finding out about their character before i start work, " she says.
While Julie is keenly pushing her ability at catching moggies better side, or giving canine class, she doesn't solely work with animals- her website proudly shows her other fancy - for Formula 1 racing cars. " But I will have a go at anything!" she insists.
Essentially though, although this is a business, Julie feels no pressure.
"It is a pleasure," she says.
"Sometimes, when you are painting each individual strand of hair on an animal, it can be quite relaxing."
